Dead Horse, Inc.

You’ve seen the landing page. So here are some of the questions I imagine you might be asking yourself, in my physical absence:

  • • “What gives, anyway? I thought he said they were all sold out!”
  • • “Where do they get off charging such bloated, exorbitant prices?”
  • • “Who do they think they are, anyway?”

I’m sure there’s more, but let’s start with those. The truth of the matter is, I’ve been hoarding a handful of copies of every EP since the beginning, knowing that certain folks (friends included) would probably bottom out and play themselves. They are numbered at the end of the 400s, and there aren’t very many of them. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you this, but frankly, I made them and paid for them and folded them and bled on them and reserve the right to do whatever the eff I want with them. I didn’t mean to betray your trust.

It’s really expensive. I get that. The reason it is so expensive is two-fold: firstly, I’m not altogether that anxious to get rid of these things. I like having them around—anniversary gifts, table balancers, etc. More importantly, it seemed inappropriate and ungracious not consider the kind souls who as early adopters have seen this bizarro project through since its inception, and I would like to reward them retroactively. I’m trying to think of a proper antonym for “penalize,” as that has such negative connotations… hmmm… well I guess late adopters are just being penalized a bit. Also, as presumably only the very privileged among you would have the gall to drop $200 on some dumb pop records, I think its fair to say that this price is all part of the integral fabric of the Privilege project.

We’re desperate. That’s who we are.

Furthermore, by popular demand, we will continue to offer Privilege, pt. V: Portrait of a Reputation, in two separate formats: As it has been thus far presented in Pre-order form (with Box, DVD, Booklet, & Insert), and now also independent of the extras, as a singular 12″.
